Historic Library Restoration & Plastering Project
Milo Plastering was proud to contribute to the restoration and revitalization of the historic Edgar Shannon Library at the University of Virginia. Originally constructed in 1938, the landmark library underwent a comprehensive renovation and expansion designed to preserve its historic character while transforming it into a modern academic environment for future generations.
The project required specialized plaster restoration and finishing techniques that complemented the building’s preservation-focused approach. Our team worked to restore and enhance interior plaster surfaces while respecting the library’s original architectural details and historic craftsmanship. Every phase of the work was executed with precision to ensure seamless integration between restored historic elements and newly renovated spaces.
As part of a large-scale restoration effort, the library’s historic features were carefully preserved while outdated systems were modernized and new learning environments were introduced throughout the facility. The result is a revitalized landmark that successfully balances historic preservation with contemporary functionality.
